SYNCHRONY LAB PPN WEBINARS
Synchrony Lab has been bringing educational and informative insights from the field of pre- and perinatal psychology for years. By addressing and adapting various topics, participants have the opportunity to become familiar with knowledge from pre- and perinatal psychology, which has rapidly spread, revealed, confirmed, and brought fascinating insights over the past few decades. Of course, let us keep in mind that the intrauterine world is still shrouded in a veil of mystique, but enough has been confirmed. Therefore, let’s embrace this knowledge, as it can provide us with awareness, clarity, change perceptions, patterns, and greatly assist on the path to healing.
It has become clear that pre- and perinatal psychology is more than just another aspect of developmental psychology—in fact, it is a revelation of a new dimension of human history that has so far been concealed behind the biological "naturalness" of pregnancy and childbirth.
It has become evident that pre- and perinatal psychology represents the importance of a NEW PARADIGM and has fundamentally changed and expanded the way we view ourselves.
Pre- and perinatal psychology is in constant connection with other sciences and therefore offers different dimensions that have developed over the years through many debates, conferences, scientific gatherings, and empirical and theoretical exchanges between the two mentioned Associations (APPPAH and ISPPM), as well as universities, healthcare institutions, research centers...
Findings from prenatal psychology delve much deeper into the internal integration of the preverbal and prenatal space. From this perspective, we can recognize that the fetus's desires and its relationship with the world, which is part of its history, are NOT IGNORED but rather manifest through life later in adulthood. This recurring effect of the pre- and perinatal period and our experience of the self and life in general represents something that separates us from other primates and is a key factor upon which the human species is based and through which it functions

THEMES:
1. CONSCIOUS PARENTING:
Conscious early parenthood offers the "nourishment" necessary for the fetus, baby, and later child to grow and become more complete, whole, and resilient on all levels. The term "preconception" is used globally, although it is still not widely discussed here, as a baby is considered a "baby" only once it arrives. Know that early parenthood, as the term itself implies, begins much earlier, even before conception, where the fetus's first physical journey starts. In this webinar, we will explore the basic principles of conscious parenting, go through important aspects of this journey, talk a little about the inner little being (baby self) that we all carry, and provide some concrete tools, suggestions, and ideas for reflection. It is intended for those planning to conceive, those awaiting their babies, those who already have children, professionals working with families, as well as anyone else attracted to this area (and I know there are many of you). |
2. THE PRENATAL ROLE OF THE UMBILICAL CORD:
It is called the baby's first toy. It belongs to the baby and is a very important organ that is present only during pregnancy. In this webinar, we will explore the basic functions of the umbilical cord; the umbilical cord and imprints as a prenatal theme; the prenatal environment and experiences in the womb; the umbilical connection; the prenatal affect of the umbilical cord ("goodness/badness"); toxins and maternal emotions; and prenatal "survival" strategies. We will also discuss the baby's defense strategies and how they may manifest upon entering this world (patterns). This may not seem like a particularly attractive topic at first, but it will certainly open up new perspectives on understanding the prenatal umbilical effect and how it can leave lasting impacts. |
3. CHILDBIRTH FROM THE BABY'S PERSPECTIVE: The mother has her experience of childbirth, and the baby has ITS experience. Unfortunately, the baby's perspective is often overlooked from a psychological standpoint. In this webinar, we will try to explore what the baby goes through, perceives, and feels during a vaginal birth. Before we delve into the baby's experience, participants will be introduced to the basic vocabulary from the field of pre- and perinatal psychology, as well as useful and preventive guidelines for childbirth itself. |
4. PRE- AND PERINATAL TRAUMA: We continue to focus on the baby's perspective and the questions of how pre- and perinatal traumas arise. What types of imprints exist? How do patterns develop, and how do they later reflect on our lives? We will discuss the baby's emotions, how stress affects babies, what early interactions are, and why they are important. We will also explore how to recognize potential signs of early traumatization in babies. Additionally, we will introduce ways to support parents and babies by offering some tools and skills. |
5. BIRTH TRAUMA FROM THE MOTHER'S PERSPECTIVE
...and much more. This webinar addresses this VERY IMPORTANT and SENSITIVE topic! |
6. CESAREAN SECTION FROM THE BABY'S PERSPECTIVE:
A cesarean section is a serious operation for the mother. Sometimes it is a choice, sometimes the only option, and at other times it is imposed. Besides leaving a physical scar, it can also leave a significant emotional mark on both the mother and the baby. The focus of our webinar is to explore how the baby experiences this type of arrival into the world and why it is important to consider their perspective. From the standpoint of pre- and perinatal psychology, numerous studies, findings, scientific papers, and therapeutic protocols have proven and revealed a lot to date. Throughout the webinar, we will learn more about these insights. |
7. BEING WITH THE BABY HERE AND NOW:
This webinar is intended for those who want to become parents, those who are pregnant, those who have babies, and all the curious souls who seek to expand their personal and professional horizons. It offers educational and inspiring material from the field of pre- and perinatal psychology, focusing on the baby and everything it brings, the stories it tells us, how and whether we hear and see them, and much more. Practical and useful tools and techniques that can ease and support both the baby and the mother during the upcoming period will also be a topic of this webinar. |
8. DAD, HOW ARE YOU?
As in all our previous webinars, we will open some new windows from the pre- and perinatal perspective. This time, we will focus on fathers, those who identify as such, and those who plan to embrace this role. What will we explore?

SPECIAL THEMES
9. POLYVAGAL THEORY FOR BEGINNERS:
If you want to change the narrative, start by changing your state! Dr. Steven Porges, the creator of Polyvagal Theory, has identified the biological sequence of human reactions that is active in every human experience. Polyvagal Theory provides an updated map of the autonomic nervous system, defining how this system shapes experiences of safety and affects the ability to connect. Polyvagal Theory offers therapists, as well as individuals, a way to directly engage the autonomic nervous system in their practice, helping individuals become active operators of their own nervous systems. The stories people tell themselves about who they are and how the world functions begin precisely in the autonomic nervous system. Become friends with yours! |
10. BEGINNING AFTER PREGNANCY LOSS
Loss, of any pregnancy, represents a significant event for every woman and often manifests as a major crisis in her life, but also as a victory! The purpose of this webinar is to provide information and education that can certainly contribute to a better understanding of this experience, both personally and professionally. We will cover general information, explore potential scenarios, the impact of previous loss on new pregnancies and parenthood, prenatal bonding with a new baby, address the mentalization of loss, and offer some potential resources for support. Having the courage to love again is a significant step, and let's not forget that. Therefore, great respect goes to all those who have gone through this experience and who continue to love. |
11. TWIN - DYNAMIC(S)
Sometimes a shock, sometimes a surprise, sometimes double joy, sometimes double trouble; sometimes neglected, sometimes adored. We are certainly rare, but we are here! Or perhaps not so rare after all?? Research shows that twin pregnancies are not as uncommon as we might think (even 30-80%). Many either go unnoticed (not carried to term) or face various challenges, or... they simply happen! If you are the parent of twins, If twins are on the way, If you have a twin, If one of the twins has left early (Vanishing twin syndrome, Lost twin), or if this topic simply interests you, then this webinar is for you! |
